School

These were the questions:
Introduce yourself to the class. In your introduction, include answers to the following questions. Your initial comments are due by Thursday and responses are due by midnight on Sunday.

1. Where did you grow up?
2. What have you done in terms of school, extracurricular activities, jobs, and family life?
3. What are you interested in? What do you like to do? What do you like to think and talk about?
4. What achievements have given you the greatest personal satisfaction?
5. Where would you like to be professionally five years from now?

This was my answer:
1) To introduce myself, I’m Jessica Nicole Brady, 18,out of Thorp, WI.I Love animals and spending time with my family and friends and boyfriend. I like thinking about the future. I had a rough childhood and through that I am only stronger. I am an open person and I enjoy helping people whether it be simply finding food for them or being a friend when they need it. With that said I’m a people person I can talk to anybody about everything. Even if I don’t know anything about the topic ill learn or just look stuff up about it. I enjoy movies, music and writing random stories and poems. I am currently going through an open adoption with my son. The family that is adopting him, took care of me when I was pregnant and my family left me. The family is really close to my heart and I think of them as my family. Im 18 and really too young to be a mom. I wasn’t given the choice to be a mom it was thrust upon me. I know that im making the most adult decision of my life by putting his needs before my own. They will give him the life I can’t. But on a happier note, I am looking forward to getting to know everyone in the class and maybe even finding some new friends.

2) I grew up in a mix between Withee, WI and Berea, Ohio.

3) I graduated from high school in January. I worked at McDonalds for 4 months as a cashier, and then as a waitress at a local cafĂ© called The Dairy Bar, both jobs were in Thorp. I have a 7 month old son, named Trystyn Joell. He’s my baby and the reason why I’m continuing my education.

4) In interested in Music and the outdoors. I like to watch movies, listen to music, and spend time with my boyfriend and son. I think and talk a lot about my future, school, my crazy family and the topic of love.

5) The achievements that have given me the greatest personal satisfaction would be one me being the first in my family to graduate high school and go to college. The second would have to be bringing a little boy into the world when I didn’t think I could. Third would be separating myself from my mom.

6) Professionally, five years from now I would like to be working as a Vet Tech and going to River Falls to get my Pre-Vet schooling done.
And these were the response that made me cry and give me the strength to keep going. And to remind these are people i have never meet nor ever talked to. COMPLETE strangers.
1) Jessica-
I admire your dedication to both your son, and school. That can't be easy, and I wish you the best of luck! Stick with it even when times get hard the outcome is definitely worth it!
Morgan
2) Hi Jessica.

First I want to commend you on making one of the hardest adult choices you will ever have to make. My younger sister, who is the same age as you, just went through the same situation with her son Paxton. You are a very strong person to see the light in the situation.
We have a lot in common. I no longer speak to anyone in my family and I was 16 when I got pregnant with my son Devon. We all make our choices in life and I believe that it's what we learn from them that makes us who we are.

I wish you good luck in your pursuit in becoming a Vet Tech. If you can make it through your life thus far you will be able to do this.

3) Wow that is quite a decission you have to make, but that is good that you can come to terms with what would be best for your son and not just be selfish and not give him the life you believe her should have. That is great. I know the struggles of being a mom believe me and it is not easy. I have 5 children and all of them have given me the strength to be who I am today. Well good luck on all you set out to do and have a good quarter.
Kisha
4) You sound like a very strong and amazing young lady. I was 16 when I became pregnant and it has been a very hard life. I have struggled as a single mom which I know in some way has effected my children. But with that it has made us all stronger. Good for you, going back to school, working and making adult decisions. Best of luck to you!
Melinda
5) Jessica, you truly are an inspiration. There are very few people who can go through what you are going through and still be strong. My best friend gave her baby boy to a very loving family, and although it is still a decision she struggles with, she knows that his needs could not be met while with her. I love that you are so ambitious! Don't let anything get in your way! When I am feeling like I want to quit, I will remember your situation and know that if you can do it, so can I!
Lindsey
